Time for Self Introspection ???

Its strange but everytime I feel am in control of the situation and I have learnt the lessons and am not going to repeat a mistake, I end up learning a new lesson.

So when this year started I said to myself, Rauuullll don’t worry you wont remember this year as another year of stupid mistakes/miscommunications etc. But I guess things are not going the way I thought.

There are times in life when you end up thinking “ Common, am tired and sick of learning the lessons”. But then life is amazing, it throws up new cards everytime.

Just saw an episode of How I met your mother after a long long time , past 3 months had been so crazy that I even forgot about how I much loved this series  and watched it with so much excitement. Neways I loved the line he said in one of the episodes, I guess its in S07E20 when he realizes that everytime he thinks about how he sees his life in 3 years and ends up realizing he always fails in achieving that , he says “ May be then something is wrong with me”.  (P.S. Strangely  I felt a sense of comfort on seeing Ted still struggling to find the right girl…haha )

But on a serious note, I guess this episode made me think that even I might be doing something wrong , may be assuming a lot of things in office/personal life because of which I end up in a hole.

May be its time for some self-introspection. May be its not wrong to point finger at myself not others. J

Karma vs Destiny

People say you will get what you are destined to. No one can rise above destiny. Well, I will not like to argue these statements. It’s a belief and I respect that.

But I strongly believe that one should leave things to destiny only after giving our full effort or Karma.
The other day I was watching DDLJ again, must have watched it hundreds of times in last 16 years. Lovely movie.

I don’t know why but while watching this movie this time I was strangely thinking about this topic “karma or destiny”. Yeah, my bad…I always keep thinking about something or the other.

So connecting this to the movie, SRK loved Kajol , Kajol loved SRK.  So they truly loved each other and taking the learnings from other movies true love always wins and hence they were together in the end. It was destiny. I guess that is the way people who believe in destiny will put it as.

HANG ON !!!  No credit to SRK who put in so much effort or Karma to reach out to Kajol and try to convince her parents.  Does not Karma has any value ???

I think it is important to put karma above destiny till the point we can control things. Say in beginning kajol was banking on her destiny and doing nothing to reach out to SRK but SRK did the karma. He reached out to her. He tried to convince her parents and everyone. SRK did all he could do. There he ended his karma and then left it to destiny.

Now it was time for Kajol to do Karma in the dramatic last scene where she ran to the railway station and pleaded her bauji to let her go.

Well…the karma of both of them and then the destiny in the end that kajol somehow ran faster than the train to hold on to hand of SRK ensured they ended up together. :D

But the moral I guess is…you cant just leave everything on destiny or on one person. Both have to do the Karma to have a happy ending or in this case happy beginning.

Apna Sapna Money Money ????

I think it is the trickiest question : How much important is money ?

The first line that comes into my mind is Mastercard’s “ There are some things money cant buy, for everything else there is Mastercard”. Yeah, seriously it sums up all.

With money you can buy everything, but you cant buy time , love, peace, life. But yes you can buy lot other stuff from money that can compensate for all these.

I remember I asked my dad this question around 3-4 years back that what is the value of money for him. He gave me an answer which I really liked,  he said for him he has enough money if I ask him for something genuine and important to buy and he has enough money to fulfil my those needs.

He further said that there is no end to the needs, but one should have enough money to fulfill the needs in limit. Say for e.g. if you want a car, that is fine. I will buy you one but if you ask for a very expensive car I will not buy you one and I will not feel sad or bad about not having enough money for that.

Dad I love and respect you. J

I understood from that day that money is important and at same time its human nature of always wanting more of it. It is good if it motivates you to put in more effort but at same time one should be happy in that pursuit. Feel blessed if you have enough money to fulfill your small wishes and basic needs. J

I understand the world is crazy. I have not found even a single person till now in last 10 months except my family whose first question about my job is ‘ Are you happy in it’. Everytime I meet someone , the first question asked is ‘ So how much you earn’. I think the perception is that happiness is directly proportional to money. Sick mentality!!!!

Last weekend had to rush to delhi for some personal commitments. And I  felt blessed that I did not had to think twice before booking air tickets just for a weekend. Add to it , it was a priceless moment when my mom n dad opened the door at midnight  and saw me standing outside the gate. They had no clue that I was coming and were so happily surprised to see me.

I remember someone telling me couple of weeks back , “ Am sure you will earn loads of money in future, but what is important is how much you enjoy and feel happy during the path to achieve that”.

Small fish in big pond – Part II

The month of April marked the beginning of another financial year. The first time for me. It got me an opportunity to have a talk with my seniors, bosses, u know for what reason. :D
But there was one person with whom I was looking forward to meet for past 6-7 months. The head of research. I wanted to meet him, I had heard that he knew my name which in itself was a big achievement for me considering he is always super duper busy and rarely gets a chance to interact with employees one on one.
So the other day when I got to know that he wanted to meet me , I was on top of the moon. Was little scared entering his room but post that it was really nice talking to him. What made me feel special was that when he said he it was first time he ever called some1 so new in office to his room to have a chat. J. FYI for positive reasons :D
We had a nice talk for almost 30-45 mins. And it was really informative, learnt a lot. He said that if you really want to succeed in life then always ensure to learn something everyday in office. Don’t go back home if you haven’t learn something new, because that means you have wasted a day of your life.
This reminds me of one of my boss with whom I had a conversation one month after I joined. I think the talk with him has provided the motivation for me for last 9-10 months. I remember him saying ,”See Rahul, if you want to achieve something , then understand 2 simple things : Keep your clients happy and learn from people around you . And to do these two things, its important to have the right attitude which is really difficult to maintain”.
As I said in the last post http://unknownrahul.blogspot.in/2012/03/small-fish-in-big-pond-part-i.html , its really important to learn from people who have the experience. For me that has always been my father and my brother-in-laws. Whenever am in doubt or I find it difficult to take a decision, I trust their judgement.
Because in the end, my family is at the center of my world. J
